Keyboard operability

axesWord can be completely operated without a mouse and with a keyboard.

The most important commands with a standard keyboard

  • In Word, you can use the Alt key or F10 to select the active tab in the ribbon and display the keyboard shortcuts (see also the next section Keyboard shortcuts for the ribbon). After pressing Alt or F10, you can use the left and right arrow keys to switch between the tabs. Press Alt or F10 again to return to the document and cancel the use of the keyboard shortcuts.
  • The axesWord controls can be focussed using the Tab key (forwards), Shift + Tab (backwards) or the arrow keys.
  • The control elements can be triggered with the Enter key or the space bar.
  • An open dialog box can be closed with the close button or the ESC key.
  • In areas with scroll bars, the non-visible area can be made visible using the arrow keys and the Page up and Page down keys.

Keyboard shortcuts for the ribbon

If you press the Alt key or the F10 key in Word, keyboard shortcuts are displayed on the ribbon by tabs or buttons for quick access. The axesWord tab and its buttons can also be accessed using such shortcuts. Which shortcuts these are can vary depending on the settings and number of installed Word add-ins. Press the Alt or F10 to display the shortcuts for axesWord on your computer.
