Click in the axesWord tab on the Show role mapping button to open the axesWord - role mapping task pane. After you have selected a form field you can edit the properties of the form field.
The various properties are grouped as follows:
These groups can be expanded or collapsed using the arrow buttons (on the left of the group labels).
Most properties are available for all form field types. However, there are significant differences in the Options property group.
The various property groups for form fields are described below.
General
You can enter the Field name and Tooltip here. The field name is automatically generated by axesWord when the form field is inserted and can usually be left as it is.
There is, however, one exception: for radio buttons, the Field name and Tooltip must be identical to ensure that only a single option can be selected.
The Read only and Required checkboxes can be used to specify whether the form field should be read only or whether an entry is mandatory.
Appearance
These properties can be used to define the visual appearance. The available properties are Border thickness, Border color, Fill color, Font color and Font size.
Note: The Font color and Font size options are not available for digital signatures.
Size and offset
Here you can set the Width and Height, as well as the Vertical offset for a form field. The Vertical offset allows you to adjust the vertical position within the paragraph.
Options
As there are significant differences between the various form field types within the Options property group, these are considered separately.
Text field
In the Alignment drop-down menu, you can set the alignment of the input text to Left, Center or Right.
You can define a default text using the Default value text input field.
Various checkbox functions are available:
- Field is used for file selection
- Password
- Check spelling
- Multi-line
- Scroll long text
- Limit character count (with character count input)
- Limit character count and align
Radio button and Check box
The Button style drop-down menu allows you to specify which character or symbol should be displayed after a radio button or check box is selected. The available options are Check, Circle, Cross, Diamond, Square and Star.
The Export value text field is automatically filled with a default value by axesWord. You can enter the actual export value here.
The following check box functions are available:
- Checked by default
- Select in unison when name and choice match (not available for check boxes)
Dropdown list
First, the list of items is displayed, showing the individual items and their export values.
Fill a list with items
- When you insert a new drop-down list, the item list is initially empty. Be sure to fill in the Item and Export value text fields.
Important: Both fields must be filled to create a valid dropdown list. As long as one field is left blank, this is indicated by a red cross icon: - After one item was entered successfully, a new line for the next item is displayed.
- Use the Arrow-Up
and Arrow-Down
buttons to reorder the items. The active item that can be reordered is indicated by the green background color.
- Use the Delete
button to remove individual items.
- The Selected by default check box allows you to specify whether the respective item should be selected by default.
The following additional check box functions are available for the dropdown list:
- Sort items (alphabetically)
- Allow custom input
- Check spelling
- Commit selected value immediately
Digital signature
The Options property group is not available.
