Checking PDF/UA and WCAG compliance after remediation

Validation of documents for compliance with PDF/UA and WCAG standards is not included in axesFlip. After the remediation process, we recommend verifying independently that the generated PDFs meet accessibility requirements.

To ensure compliance with PDF/UA and WCAG, we recommend validating your documents using axesPAC.

axesPAC is designed for automated accessibility validation and is well suited for:

  • Batch validation of large numbers of PDF documents.
  • Integration into automated document workflows.
  • Verifying compliance after large‑scale conversions.

axesPAC vs. PAC

Both axesPAC and PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) are tools for validating the accessibility of PDFs, but they serve different use cases:

  • PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) is the standard tool offered by axes4 for checking individual PDF documents for accessibility. PAC is a free application and is intended for manual validation of individual documents and is well suited for reviewing sample PDFs during template creation or testing.
  • axesPAC builds on the same trusted checking routines used by PAC, but allows you to check documents automatically and at scale. Unlike PAC, axesPAC requires a license (API key) from axes4 and is optimized for batch processing and system integration.

By combining axesFlip for conversion and axesPAC for validation, you can ensure that your PDFs are both consistently structured and verifiably compliant with accessibility standards.
