In PowerPoint, it is possible to insert an automatically generated header or footer with slide number, date, and time as well as text on the slides.
Standard export as artifact
As headers and footers are repeated on every slide, this information tends to disrupt the reading flow for users of Assistive Technologies.
For this reason, headers and footers are artifacted by default when exporting to PDF with axesSlide, provided they were created using the corresponding PowerPoint functions. This means that they are then ignored by assistive technologies.
Include header and footer in document structure
If the header or footer of your presentation contains important information for all users (e.g., the date of the presentation), you can also export the header or footer to the document structure on specific slides:
- Select the Role mapping button in the axesSlide tab. The axesSlide - Role mappings and reading order task pane opens.
- Assign the role Footer to the corresponding footer element. For more information on role mappings, see the article Button "Role mapping".
- Done. The footer is now exported to the document structure for this slide.
