Preparing Word: Useful views and settings

In this article, we will show you how to set up Word so that you can work as efficiently as possible.

1. Show paragraph marks and formatting symbols

Click in the Home tab in the Paragraph command group on the Symbol: Absatzzeichen-symbol (top right).

Reason

You can see in the document view which paragraph styles and formatting symbols were used.

2. Show "Styles" pane

Click in the Home tab in the Styles command group on the dialog box launcher Word: Dialogue box launcher in the right corner - the Styles pane will be shown on the right-hand side.

Reason

You can see which styles are available and also which style was assigned to a paragraph.

3. Show "Navigation" pane

Activate the Navigation Pane check box in the Show command group in the View tab.

Word: Command group 'Show'

The Navigation pane will be shown on the left-hand side.

Reason

You can see which headings were defined and how the document is structured.

4. Show "axesWord - role mapping" pane

Click the Show role mapping button in the axesWord tab.

Reason

You can see the role mappings of figures, tables, text boxes and headers/footers. You can also check alternative texts.

5. Result

When you prepared these settings you will see the following view. And now you are well prepared for working with axesWord.
